The fundamentals are looking stronger than
ever before for the Indian pharmaceutical market. The total Indian pharma market
is valued at Rs 24000 crores. The export turnover stands at Rs. 14000 crores. In
terms of volumes, India ranks 4th in the world representing 8% of the global
volume. India manufacturers over API's & over 60,000 formulations in 60
therapeutic categories. India also has the unique distinction of having more
than 70 USFDA plants & 200 units testified for international GMP.
These are not simply awesome statistics but also bring out the immense potential
that India has, to grow into a major pharma hub, in the near future. According
to a Mckinsey report, the domestic Indian pharma market could grow to US$25
billion, by the year 2010.
Messe duesseldorf & its Indian subsidiary - CIDEX Trade Fairs is organizing
PHARMA INDIA 2005 & BIOTEC INDIA INTERNATIONAL 2005. The event is being actively
supported by IDMA, one of the most respected industry association, in India & to
be held parallel to INTERKAMA India, at the IEC, Greater Noida (near Delhi). 1st
to 3rd Oct.'05. Concurrent to the exhibition a two-day conference will be

Gordhandas Desai, wika Inst. Ace Instruments & a host of others. A very well
planned visitor promotion campaign is also being implemented with special
emphasis on areas with a greater concentration of pharmaceutical & biotech
companies like Baddi in H.P., Vizag, Pune, Lucknow & Hyderabad. Major states
like Punjab, U.P., Gujarat, Maharashtra, A.P & Karnataka are also being targeted
in a big way.
